A mysterious new name has appeared in Ferrari’s trademark activity, giving us another possible clue about what could be coming from Maranello.
The name is LC67, and the filing covers road and racing cars, along with vehicle parts and accessories (via Motor1). Ferrari has not connected the name to any known project, so there is no guarantee it will ever appear on a production car.
The application goes much further than cars too, covering clothing, merchandise and downloadable digital items such as emojis. That gives Ferrari plenty of options for LC67, whether it eventually appears on a car, a racing project or something completely different.
Of course, registering a name does not mean Ferrari actually plans to use it. Carmakers regularly protect trademarks to keep their options open, and some never make it beyond the paperwork.

Ferrari
Still, Ferrari has been unusually busy on this front lately. Earlier this year, filings appeared for names including F80 Targa, F80 Roadster, F80XX and FXX80, along with several possible additions to the 12Cilindri and 296 families. None of those names guarantees a production model either, but they give Ferrari plenty of room for future derivatives.
AdvertisementLC67 stands out because it does not resemble anything in Ferrari’s current road-car naming scheme. That has naturally raised the possibility of a limited-run model or one-off project, although Ferrari has given us nothing concrete to support that theory yet.
There has also been speculation about a possible connection to the 12Cilindri, but that remains just a theory. The filing itself gives no indication of what LC67 could look like, what might power it or whether a car carrying the name will ever exist.
For now, LC67 is more of a breadcrumb than a new Ferrari. But given how unusual the name is, it is certainly one worth remembering in case it eventually turns up on something more exciting than a trademark application.
