EXP has reached 1,000 member agents seven years after its launch in the UK, as self-employed agents continue to increase their share of the property market.

Using analysis from TwentyEA, the self-employed agency platform estimates there are currently around 2,000 self-employed estate agents operating in Britain, wmeaning EXP now accounts for around half of the sector.

Data from the same company also shows that, in June 2025, EXP became Britain’s largest estate agency brand for new instructions.

Adam Day (pictured), the agency’s UK and European Head, suggests that the headline milestone marks another major step forward for the business.

He explains that it has continued to scale at an increasingly rapid pace since launching within the British market in 2019, as more agents and agency businesses embrace the “flexibility, autonomy and earning potential” offered by being self-employed.

He says: “To now surpass 1,000 agents exactly one year after becoming the UK’s leading estate agency brand is an incredibly proud moment and one that really highlights the pace at which the business continues to grow, given that we now account for 50% market share of self-employed agents within the UK property market.

What’s particularly exciting is that the rate of growth is accelerating rather than slowing down.”

“What’s particularly exciting is that the rate of growth is accelerating rather than slowing down.

“That tells you everything you need to know about the appetite for change within the industry and the strength of the model we’ve built.

“Over the last year alone, we’ve continued to expand not just in scale, but in the opportunities available to our agents, whether that’s through our brokerage model, commercial division, luxury offering, strategic partnerships or the wider support infrastructure surrounding the platform.

“The industry is evolving quickly, and agents increasingly want greater flexibility, better economics and more ownership over their future.

“That’s exactly what EXP was built to provide, and we believe the momentum we’re seeing today is only going to continue building from here.”
