We’re less than 24 hours away from the self-imposed target date for the Philadelphia Eagles to trade star wide receiver A.J. Brown.

A deal has been discussed for months between the Eagles and New England Patriots, and many expect the trade to come together quickly sometime Monday evening.

And according to NFL Insider Jason La Canfora, the trade price is expected to be far less than the first- and second-round picks Philadelphia initially asked for at the beginning of the offseason.

“Multiple NFL executives said over the weekend that they believe the Eagles will trade star receiver AJ Brown to New England this week, with one general manager saying the Eagles will land a 2028 first-round pick for him,” La Canfora reported.

Some consider a first-round pick too rich of a price to pay for a polarizing player like Brown, who’s been known to air out his personal grievances with his team over social media.

However, Patriots fans are celebrating that the team won’t have to surrender its first-rounder in the 2027 draft, which is considered by most scouts and talent evaluators as one of the best drafts of the last two decades.

Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown...

“Holy [expletive] Howie got fleeced😭😭😭 Everyone knows a pick the next year is valued one round less so essentially Patriots got AJ for a second👀,” one fan celebrated.

“If true, NE took Howie lunch again. No way it should be a 2028 pick. Freakin joke he’s a top 10 WR,” another fan remarked.

“NE fleeced the ‘untouchable’ Howie if this is real. Miami got a 1, 3 and 4 for a worse WR in waddle compared to Brown. A single 1st would be a steal for NE and a loss for Howie,” a third fan replied.

“If the pats get a WR1 for a kick the can 1st that’s unreal. They got to draft assets this year and next year and the eagles don’t get shit until a 3rd draft. That’s highway robbery for Patriots haha,” another fan posted.

Conversely, Eagles fans aren’t happy to hear that Howie Roseman would let Brown go and not get a pick back in the loaded 2027 draft.

“Ain't no way they just getting that for him. I need to see something in 2027 too,” one user scoffed.

“I don’t think 2028 is a good deal for the Eagles. Obviously I’ll take a first. But everyone needs to act like AJ is washed. He’s got his flaws but he’s still great,” another user posted.

“That’s not that great of a deal. 2028 picks are devalued by a round and the Eagles are eating a ton of his money in the deal. He’s an all pro WR. I’d want close to the Tyreke deal to say it’s a ‘helluva deal,’” a third user stated.

“Nothing in 2027? No way!!!! I would expect a 3rd or 4th next draft….,” exclaimed another user.
