The WNBA and WNBPA reached a new collective bargaining agreement last month. According to the league's official release, the CBA establishes "the first comprehensive revenue-sharing model in women's professional sports history" and substantially increases the league's salary cap and players' salaries, as seen here.
While Wilson will still sign the supermax with the Aces, she won't hold the title of the league's first $1 million contract.
...On Thursday, ESPN's Alexa Philippou reported that the Aces are "finalizing an agreement" with four-time All-Star guard Jackie Young on what's "expected to be a one-year deal at the regular max ($1.19 million)."
Young's new contract would become the first $1 million contract in WNBA history, per ESPN.
The WNBA's free agency negotiating period began on Wednesday and runs through tomorrow. Teams can officially begin signing players on Saturday.
Young has spent her entire WNBA career in Las Vegas since the Aces made her the No. 1 overall pick in 2019. Young, Wilson, and six-time All-Star guard Chelsea Gray formed the Big 3 that has led the Aces to winning three of the past four WNBA championships.
Last week, Wilson confirmed to reporters at Team USA training camp that she is "not leaving Vegas" in free agency and is "looking to defend a championship" with the Aces in 2026.
